EXCITEMENT has been mounting at the new Mecca Bingo Club in Birkenhead, as general manager Richard Lloyd and his team arranged their opening extravaganza last Sunday.

Mecca has poured a massive £3.26 million into the conversion of the former ASDA site at Europa Square. The club shows how much the draughty image of bingo has changed: it boasts room for more than 1,400 players in luxury surroundings and offers the chance of winning up to £100,000 every night!

The new club will create 23 permanent new jobs, in addition to those transferring from the old Mecca Borough Road and Claughton Road sites, which will close as the new club opens.

Already a storming success, the club has signed over 12,000 members. Due to this response, Richard has decided to hold a 'beginners' night' tomorrow (Thursday). Doors open at 5pm, with bingo at 7pm with staff on hand to show players exactly what to do, and make sure members enjoy their first taste of the game.
