A GRIEVING woman is appealing for information after the heartbreaking theft of her late partner's gravestone from Landican Cemetery.
Lynne Sharkey, from Noctorum, made the discovery when she went to lay flowers at the grave. The marble gravestone was missing, along with toys and flowers left by her children.
Her partner Robbie died in July, aged 48, after a long battle against cancer. Now Lynne says she can't afford to replace the marble stone and is appealing for any witnesses to the vandalism to contact police.
Said Lynne: "I can't understand why anybody would want to do this. I'm devastated by this act of vandalism. I simply cannot afford to replace the stone. My 80-year-old mother worked to help pay for it - there's no way we can afford another.
"I just want people to know that these horrible things happen, even at a cemetery. That stone was put there out of respect for someone I loved and nursed through cancer. I've never come across such disgusting behaviour in all my life for someone to steal a gravestone.
"If anybody knows what happened, please call the police. These vandals even stole my children's toys and cards. It's a disgrace."
