FAMILY of schoolboy Robbie Cooper mourn the tragic death of the cheeky 14-year-old in a traffic accident by raising money to buy equipment for the intensive care unit at Arrowe Park Hospital.
Behind a brave smile, mum Karen Cooper admits the grief has caused her illness. The Lynwood Avenue household is still full of heartache.
The family thank people through the Globe, who have contributed around £3,000 in memory of Robbie. "We will be going up to Arrowe Park Hospital shortly to meet ITC staff to see how much is needed to buy what equipment," said Mrs Cooper, after accepting a cheque for £2,400 from Wallasey and Upton firemen at the Eagle Arms Pub, Poulton.
The ordeal continues for the family with court hearings and an inquest still to be held. "I have not been given a date yet for the full inquest hearing. We expect it to be December - before Christmas."
Robbie received fatal injuries crossing the road near his home in August.
"The appeal helps to take our mind off the grief, as people are so kind. Raising money for the hospital is so worthwhile, it will help save other lives after road accidents," says Mrs Cooper.
The Robbie Cooper Appeal Fund is at the TSB Bank, Liscard.
