From Joy Bratherton, The War Research Society:- I AM the local contact for the War Research Society which was founded, and is run on a voluntary basis, by serving and retired Police Officers/ex Service personnel and friends who all have a great interest in both the First and Second World Wars.
We operate as a charitable hobby enabling us to make regular donations to the Royal British Legion, Earl Haig Poppy Appeal, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and several Forces related charities.
We assist in the tracing of War graves, taking veterans, relatives and other interested parties to visit the Battlefields, Memorials and the last resting places of the fallen in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
We can also arrange for photographs of War graves for those who cannot travel.
We have planned for next year several visits to the First & Second World War battlefields and in particular Somme/Ypres, Passchendaele, Verdun, Marne, Delville Wood, St Nazaire, Normandy, Arnhem, Berlin, Colditz Castle, Dambusters Raid, Dunkirk, plus Waterloo and the Edinburgh Tattoo.
If any of your readers are interested in the trips, I would welcome enquiries and gladly send details if they enclose an A5 stamped, self addressed envelope.
