COUNCILLORS are being recommended to block off a busy road, off the A41, to safeguard children from cars travelling too fast.
Beazer Homes are building 100 properties, halfway along Stanley Road, New Ferry, which starts and ends on New Chester Road. People living in the area now want Stanley Road to be permanently closed, or for traffic calming measures to be introduced. The council consulted residents and the developer, both of whom prefer the closure option.
Highway councillors, on November 25, are expected to give the closure the go-ahead. However, the same councillors are expected to monitor traffic conditions at the College Drive - Old Chester Road junction before agreeing to a petition calling for no-waiting.
The petition from 121 residents calls for waiting restrictions on the North side of Old Chester Road from its junction with Rydal Bank to a point where the dual carriageway starts.
