AN application to build a McDonald's drive-thru restaurant on Woodchurch Road, Prenton, was refused by Wirral Council Plans Sub-Committee.
Petitions and objections were submitted against the proposals to build a McDonald's Restaurant at the Prenton Pre Cast site on Woodchurch Road. One local resident said: "Traffic problems on Woodchurch Road are horrendous and queues can stretch further up the road to Sainsbury's. It's hard to understand why McDonald's want to build a restaurant on that site!"
Other objections include litter problems, leading to pests and vermin, and pollution from the extra traffic generated.
Speaking on behalf of McDonald's, Alan Mendleson said: "It would create an attraction for the town!" His comments drew angry reaction from the public, before the application was rejected, after a report from the Highways Committee concerning traffic problems.
