POLICE are 'bubbling' children to keep them safe this Christmas.
Shops in Birkenhead will feature 'bubble' prompts to remind them what to do if they get lost as part of a schools campaign.
The two shopping centre managers, Mel Glasby and Norma Clark, with the Mayor and Mayoress, joined pupils from St Werburgh's School for the launch of the police Childwatch scheme. Cop Shop officer Tom McCarten, in The Pyramids, says the aim of the bubble campaign is to tell schoolchildren what to do if they get lost. Birkenhead shopping area, with its CCTV, security guards and radio network, is fast becoming one of the safest places to shop for adults and children alike.
Birkenhead Market next Tuesday hosts an information day telling women how to protect themselves. Rock Ferry YWCA will have a stand dealing with all aspects of violence towards women. As part of an on-going campaign, YWCA has already held a march in memory of Diane Sindall, who was murdered in Borough Road.
