From Carol Fell:- THE magic of Christmas will soon be here with its happy gatherings and warm memories. For all concerned at the League of Welldoers, the Festive Season is always a joyful and most rewarding time of year. Our arrangements will include parties and concerts for old and young alike, festive lunches for the elderly, as well as the distribution of Christmas fare of those less fortunate than most folk.
Continuing inflation and large scale unemployment cause great anxiety. There will be many children who would not have a party or receive a toy except for our efforts - especially those who are handicapped or abused.
We are as active as ever with our day-to-day activities including our Old Folk's Luncheon Club. In other areas, we are as busy as ever serving the needs of the community here on Merseyside and we still encompass a very wide field of activities and events in our efforts to alleviate the problems of those who turn to us for help throughout the year.
The cost at our Yuletide festivities will be higher than ever this year, but we are undaunted in our efforts to brighten the lives of lonely and needy people, as we have been doing for over century. In preparing for our various events we appeal for the generous support of your readers to help make this a happier Christmas for many.
All contributions will be most gratefully received and should be addressed to the Chief Executive.
We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year.
