From Another angry mum:- WITH reference to the letter from 'Angry Mother' Mailbox, November 5) on the subject of school transport charges, I am equally as angry.
As a parent of a child who attends West Kirby Grammar we were not informed by the council that a charge was to be made for travel to and from school, until our daughter had passed her 11+ and we had accepted the place offered to us. It was only when we applied for a bus travel pass were we informed of the charge in policy, and the introduction of a travel fee.
However, this policy is obviously flexible as children attending West Kirby Grammar this year who have siblings already at the school continue to travel free of charge. This is obviously unfair, surely, however wrong a fee-paying policy is, then a fee should be paid by all. Then perhaps the £185 charged to some, could be reduced to £100 paid by all. Surely this is the only fair way to operate unless the service is free to all.
What is equally alarming is that this policy was introduced without public knowledge, what will be introduced and charged for next?
