TWO redundant warehouses on the Wallasey side of Wirral docklands are earmarked for refurbishment by small and medium-sized firms.
The warehouses - Britannia and West Float - are part of the New Wallasey Plan, which was presented to this week's meeting of Wirral's economic regeneration committee.
Other possible schemes are a third phase development to Woodside Business Park and two completely new facilities near 12 Quays. They are an astro-physics centre and a 'Nautilus' heritage centre.
Local councillors serve on a forum, working with community groups, to deliver the New Wallasey single regeneration scheme. Updates were given to councillors on other regeneration schemes. Grants are being offered to start firms along the A41 frontage.
The former Mowlem's training building is converted for use by the University of Liverpool Department Mechanical Engineering. Land in the area is earmarked for a Marine Technology Park.
Work has started on developing the site of the former British Leather factory as a business park, while Lairdside Community Trust have offices in Bedford Road, Rock Ferry, to be officially opened by Birkenhead MP Frank Field later this month.
The Council is also undertaking an economic appraisal of the Rock Park waterfront, while there is a feasibility study for a Tranmere Urban Village.
