PETER Kilgannon, of Wirral AC, won the British Veterans Marathon in a time of 2:34:31 to finish first outright at the British Sugar Marathon in Norfolk.
Peter has run three marathons this year with a best time of 2:25:49, and has been first over-40 in all three events - and outright winner in the last two.
FOUR Wirral AC runners performed strongly in recent 5km Road Races. Paul Howarth was third in the Southport event in a time of 15:18 and won at Chester with a better time of 14:55, while Tony McDevitt was fourth in 15:49. John Holt was 12th at Croxteth Park with 16:02 and Ian Corrin 15th in 16:12.
WITH the top two teams in each division being promoted in the Northern Men's Track and Field League, Wirral AC missed out on a possible double promotion as the 'A' team finished third in Division Three and the 'B' team third in Division Four.
Other recent successes saw Andy Brabin win the first race of the Multi-Terrain Grand Prix series, while Julie Boscoe was third lady in the Cilcain Mountain race.
