WIRRAL South MP Ben Chapman and Wirral West MP Stephen Hesford are pledging to back a Bill to ban hunting with dogs.
Field sports supporters from Wirral and Cheshire were in London at the weekend to protest to their MPs about the private member's bill. The lobby by Countryside Alliance argues that the legislation will be against a dog's natural instinct to hunt. The ban would also affect shooting and falconry.
However, the Campaign for the Protection of Hunted Animals says Messrs. Chapman and Hesford have pledged to back the Bill.
The Wild Mammals (Hunting with Dogs Bill), put forward by Labour MP Mike Foster, goes before the House of Commons, for its crucial Second Reading, on November 28.
