TENSION is mounting in the Wirral and District Schools International Quiz with four teams competing in the semi-finals this week.
Calday Grange A play Wirral Grammar School for Boys and Bebington High compete against Birkenhead High for a place in the finals being held on Wednesday, December 3, in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral, Coun Barney Gilfoyle and Mrs Agnes Gilfoyle.
The event, organised by the Bebington Branch of the United Nations Association, is being held at Bebington Civic Centre. The final will include an illustrated talk by Dan Meigh, who competed as a schoolboy in the quiz finals a few years ago. He has sinced graduated in Chinese and his talk will be 'An Introduction to China'.
Results of the quarter finals are as follows: Calday Grange A, 44, Birkenhead A, 37; St Anselms A, 36, Wirral Boys Grammar, 40; Bebington High, 31, Sutton High, 20 and Ellesmere Port RC High, 28, Birkenhead High, 33.
