THE building housing Wallasey Village Library celebrates its Diamond Jubilee on March 1.
Staff and friends of the library have arranged a dinner dance at the Hotel Victoria, New Brighton, on February 28, with dance music, mainly from the Forties and Fifties, provided by the Norman Roy Orchestra.
The Friends of Wallasey Village Library was formed in 1993 with the aim of raising funds to improve amenities for all library users. Four months ago the committee decided to raise funds for a multi-media computer, enabling the library to offer the latest information available on the Internet and various CD-roms.
So far, over half of the amount needed has been raised and it is hoped that future events, as well as the ongoing "Buy a Byte" for £1 scheme, will raise the balance in time for the anniversary.
Tickets for the dinner dance are £15 each, available from the library on 638-1024.
