A NEW partnership is aiming to breathe new life and opportunity into Leasowe as it celebrates a £1.5 million boost from Europe.
The money - 80% of which came from the European Regional Development Fund and 20% from the European Social Fund - will enable a wide range of community projects to take place in Leasowe.
The grant was celebrated amid an atmosphere of optimism and team-building at Leasowe URBAN Initiative Conference. The conference was held by the Leasowe Regeneration Partnership, a body made up of Leasowe residents, and representatives of the public and private sector, at the International Business and Management (IBM) Centre.
The event was sponsored by B&Q, North West Water, Wirral Council, Leasowe Community Association, Wirral Pathways and Wirral Metropolitan College. Fifty people attended, including Leasowe's three ward councillors, residents, and senior representatives of public agencies and local private companies.
