From Caring dog owner:-ON behalf of all responsible dog owners, I would like to apologise to the horse rider who was chased by two dogs while out riding off Red Rocks, Hoylake, on Wednesday, November 12.

Having met those same dogs earlier on, I can only describe them as the canine equivalent of undisciplined spoilt brats. They chased and frightened my dog without their owners taking the slightest bit of notice.

They then spotted someone riding a horse well out on the beach and took off in pursuit. The rider rightly ignored them and carried on while the dogs owners merely stood on the strand ineffectually calling to the dogs, both of which totally ignored them.

The rider did eventually return, along with the dogs, to meet the owner only to receive a loud harangue. I was quite amazed that she was actually berating the rider after her dogs had given chase.

I would suggest that, until those dogs have been taught some basic discipline and obedience, they be kept on leads. Had that horse been nervous or the rider inexperienced, the outcome may well have been different, bearing in mind the dreadful incident last year when a horse drowned at sea after being chased by dogs.
