A DETERMINATION to succeed finally paid off for 51-year-old Doug Jones who, after being unemployed for more than two years, gained a job as a security guard - thanks to SKILLS+.
The odds were against him finding work. He had no qualifications or a trade but this did not stop him from pursuing various job seekers' programmes and voluntary work.
Doug, from Moreton, saw an advert for trainee security guards in a local paper and enrolled on the Training Network North West course delivered through CEWTEC's SKILLS+ programme.
SKILLS+ offers a wide range of quality training in most careers for all young people aged 16 to 24 and eligible unemployed adults aged 18 to 63. It is designed to help people get the most out of a combination of essential hands-on experience with a local employer while working towards National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
