FOOTBALLERS from schools all over Wirral received the perfect Christmas boost when Burton's Biscuits agreed to sponsor the Wagon Wheels National Cup until the year 2001.
The Wagon Wheels National Cup is the biggest indoor five-a-side football tournament for boys and girls in the country, and children aged 12 or under are eligible.
Already 15 Wirral schools, including Park High, Ridgeway, Neston, Pensby, Plessington, Woodchurch, St Mary's, Bebington High, Wallasey, Mosslands, St Benedict's, Hilbre High, Oldershaw, South Wirral and Rock Ferry have entered boys' teams and nine schools have entered girls teams.
The boys' and girls' team who win the Wirral round will go through to a regional final, and winners will compete in the day-long national finals at Aston Villa Sports & Leisure Centre in March 1998.
Other Wirral schools interested in entering a team should ask their team manager to phone the ESFA information line on 01785-251142.
