AN angry teenager caused damage of £921 when he smashed a car showroom window, Wirral Magistrates heard.
James Quinn, aged 19, of Stoneby Drive, Wallasey, admitted a damage charge. Not only was the window broken, but glass also damaged a new Vauxhall Vectra car on show.
Prosecutor Gill Harris said a police officer was cycling to work at 6.55am when he heard the sound of smashing glass and investigated. Quinn was seen running away and was later traced to his home. "I smashed the window in rage," he commented.
Paul Davidson, defending, said Quinn had been arrested the previous night for being drunk and disorderly but was eventually released without charge. He felt "miffed" and damaged the window in a fit of rage.
The magistrates told Quinn it was a costly exercise. They granted a 12 months conditional discharge but he had to pay full compensation plus £45 costs.
