WALLASEY MP Angela Eagle is seeking talks with Premier Beverages and Premier Biscuits, following an announcement that they intend to become separate firms and review bargaining arrangements at the Moreton factories.
The company told employees of its intent to serve three months' notice, from this week, upon the current 'Framework Agreement'. Management says changes in bargaining do not effect rates of pay, conditions of employment, hours of work, or pensions but employees have their doubts.
They fear the changes follow expected changes in conditions when Tulip moves from the Moreton and New Brighton site to a purpose-built factory in Bromborough.
Ms Eagle told the Globe, she is aware of the concerns of employees at Premier and will be contacting management for talks.
She has welcomed the decision by Tulip International that it has agreed to stay in Wirral.
"I accept discussions still have to take place over assistance and potential sites but this is excellent news for Wirral. I should like to put on record my thanks to the local authority and the Government Office for Merseyside, both of whom have worked hard for this result."
