BIRKENHEAD'S sky at night will be bright with a firework spectacular this Thursday, at 7pm outside Birkenhead Market. So remember, remember the fourth of December . . . .
It marks Christmas shopping in a traditional market with the arrival of Santa at 6.30pm for the first of the late night Thursdays. And the forecast for tomorrow is snow, as Market Manager Larry Embra is bringing in a snow machine to add to the festive atmosphere.
"The firework display will be even more spectacular than last year!" promises Mr Embra. There are 600 stalls and Danny Doyle, chairman of Birkenhead Market Traders, promises a traditional December of Christmas shopping.
"We like to celebrate Christmas in December. That's why we have held off until now and decided to light up the sky over Birkenhead Market."
Birkenhead Rotary Club, with Birkenhead Operatic Society, hold a carol concert in Birkenhead Town Hall, on Thursday, starting at 7.30pm. Just opposite, Birkenhead Hamilton Quarter has provided a Christmas Tree for Hamilton Square.
Shopaholics can also attend a Christmas shopping evening at Arrowe Park Hospital recreational hall on Friday, starting 8pm. Everything from women's clothes and perfume to toys and furniture, plus raffle. Admission £2.
