A WARNING to paper boys and girls to be careful in the morning has been issued by a Meols motorist, who drives to work at 7am. Roy Rodger has just moved jobs but is alarmed, on these dark mornings, by the number of youngsters riding bikes without lights.
"They are virtually invisible!" he warns parents and newsagents. They also tend to ride on the wrong side of the road, come out from driveways without warning, wear dark clothing and are often unsteady on their cycles.
In a letter to the Hoylake Globe he asks do parents and paper shop owners appreciate the danger to paper boys and girls on bikes; not just to themselves, but to motorists trying to avoid an accident?
"I know most bikes are fitted with reflectors but they also need proper lights. I just hope my letter helps avoid an accident," he concludes.
