It was a joy day for Parkonians. They collected their first win of the season in a re-arranged South Lancashire/Cheshire League game at home to Didsbury Toc H. Alan Morris managed two touch downs with singles for Andy Evans and Tony Berkson.

Wallasey were due to play at Bowdon in a re-arranged league match, but the referee failed to turn up so they had a training session and then returned home. Very unsatisfactory indeed.

Birkenhead Park lost a close club game against Northwich 20-25 with a couple of kicks separating the sides. Chris Wainwright, Peter Blaylock and John McNally touched down and Tom Mapp put over a conversion and a penalty. The two sides are due to meet again in the New Year in the Cheshire Cup.

Anselmians put up a bold show at higher ranked Chester before losing 20-47. There were tries for Matt McKenzie, Rich Kimpton and Neil Williams and Andy Power added a penalty and a conversion.

Wirral whipped Sandbach 63-7. Andy McKinney and Barry Wainwright grabbed a brace of tries each with singles for John Morris, Nick Stott, Simon Hignett, Sean Kay, Mike Beamish and Chris Whorton. McKinney goaled four times and Hignett once in addition to kicking a penalty.

Port Sunlight were happy with a 12-7 win over Merseyside Police. Steve Cooke and Simon Byrne went in and Lee Parnell added one goal.

Prenton crushed Moore 41-17, Peter Lewis scoring three tries and Craig Elkerton a brace. Peter Collins and Paul Cotgrave also went in and Matt Hewston goaled three times.

Hoylake were equally convincing 46-0 winners against Hightown. Trevor Boult went in twice and Alan Robinson, Max Williams, Dan Baldock, Jamie Courtney and Lee Austin once each. There was also a penalty try, while Williams converted three times.

It's league action nearly all the way this Saturday. Birkenhead Park entertain Penrith in North West One and Oldershaw go to Vagabonds in the Isle of Man.

In Division Two, Caldy have Carlisle as visitors.

South Lancashire/Cheshire League clashes include Newton-le-Willows v Anselmians, Wirral v Ruskin Park and Wallasey v Parkonians.
