Fishmonger reels in Paris trip
A FISHMONGER from Birkenhead has won a long weekend for two in Paris, where he will trade tips and views with French retailers after landing the Scottish Salmon Boards 'Excellence in Marketing' competition.
Simon Buckmaster of Ward's Fish in Birkenhead Market was presented with a specially commissioned Highland Stoneware trophy and a framed certificate by Assistant Marketing Manager of the Scottish Salmon Board, Lilian Smith.
Birkenhead Market also had a runner up in the competition with Prenton Fish winning £100 in vouchers.
The 'Excellence in Marketing' competition rewards fishmongers who promote Tartan Quality Mark Scottish salmon as well as their own business. Wards won for using a number of different marketing strategies to double sales during the promotion period.
Simon Buckmaster said: "The staff and I have really enjoyed taking part in this competition and we are delighted to have won such a brilliant prize. We're looking forward to seeing how it's done in France."
