Public Inquiry is next month
CONTROVERSIAL plans for a posh estate on 'Millionaire's Row' on the site of the former Leas School, Meols Drive, West Kirby, are scheduled to go before a public inquiry.
The Secretary of State has announced July 22 as the date for the inquiry at Wallasey Town Hall. Anyone living in the neighbourhood can attend or put their view in writing. Letters should be sent to the Government Office For Merseyside, Cunard Building, Pier Head, Water Street, Liverpool L3, ref GOME/308/5/1 before June 24.
The prime 1.9 hectares site has previously been earmarked for various developments including a nursing home, hotel (twice withdrawn), a nursing and care home, then a nursing home with care bungalows. The latest planning application is for 19 detached two-storey homes
Also Wirral Council's property services committee on June 16 will hear reports - not open to the press or public - on St Bridget's Church Centre, West Kirby, Hoylake Youth and Community Centre, Hoyle Road, Hoylake, plus the disposal of non- operational agricultural land.
