AN empty gas cylinder caused consternation for organisers of a school's Summer Fair, who thought it might be something more sinister left over from World War II!
Comedian Stan Boardman donned a hard hat and was drafted in to check it out. He and Trevor Cockcroft, one of the organisers of St George's Primary School Fair in Wallasey, discovered it was only a cylinder left over from last year's balloon race.
This year's event takes place on schedule at the school in Claremount Road, Wallasey, on Saturday, from 1pm to 4pm and is expected to be the best yet. There are a wide range of attractions planned for the afternoon including displays by the Harrison Green Dancers, Mosslands Brass Band and the West Kirby Gymnasts, as well as crafts, stalls, sideshows and treats such as candy floss.
