EMBROIDERY teacher Barbara Briscoe isn't going to let her needles rust in retirement. While she has officially hung up her needles, a final exhibition of work is being staged at The Voirrey Embroidery Centre, Brimstage Hall, until June 27. Then Barbara will keep in touch with pupils and friends by holding a consultancy day once a month.
SOLVE the problem of bored kids by occupying and educating five-to-18-year-olds in a fun way at reasonable cost! You can enrol now for courses organised by Hoylake CVS, in association with Hilbre High School, over a three-week period starting on July 27.
Most activities run for five half-day sessions. A wide choice includes football, golf, trampolining, gymnastics and judo/self-defence. For the more artistic there are courses in calligraphy and puppet making.
A new venture for August is a full week's Drama School with a 'showcase' performance for parents on a Friday afternoon. And if you are adventurous and hoping for another hot Summer, you can take part in wind-surfing, sailing and canoeing.
