TORY councillor Jeff Green accuses the Wirral Labour Administration of betraying the children of Deeside for political ends.
He claims: "The Labour Party have always had a deep-seated hatred of selective education. Their latest attempt to blame the Deeside system for the appalling treatment of children and parents has all the hallmarks of a political manipulation and very little to do with the facts.
"Fact: There are four Deeside girls who have passed to go to West Kirby Grammar School who have not been allocated places and who education bosses want to bus across Wirral to Birkenhead.
"Fact: This year Wirral's Labour Education Authority has allocated 13 less children to West Kirby Grammar School than last year. If they had allocated the same number of places as last year this disgraceful situation would have been avoided.
"Fact: Pensby Girls is massively over subscribed with first preferences again this year. Once more children will be separated from their friends and thrown into schools miles from their homes that appeared nowhere on any preference that any Deeside parent completed.
"Fact: Wirral Conservatives were voted down when they supported Pensby Girls' Governing body's wish to increase the number of children allowed to be admitted to the school. The Labour party refused to support governors who are now appealing to the Secretary of State to have their admission number increased."
