From T.S. Neale:-
I AM amazed by the amount of debate generated over recent weeks in response to Wirral's new bus stops.
A bus stop is the passengers first experience of a bus journey and if it is bleak, dirty and lacking information, the user has every right to be aggrieved.
The new posts and shelters display information which has long been lacking from our bus stops.
These simple improvements, focused in inner urban areas where generally car ownership is generally low and public transport demand higher, are just part of a whole series of changes including new vehicles which will provide benefits for people with pushchairs or with mobility problems.
The new changes may be a little shocking at first, but if they help to symbolise a modern, efficient network, of which I am sure John Laird would be proud, and persuade more people to use public transport, then so much the better!
