THERE will be a new division next season in the Carlsberg West Cheshire Football League.
The annual meeting voted to extend the League to three divisions.
Over past months, Special General meetings had been held to introduce new rules and a new structure for the management of the League. Prior to the AGM, full approval of the rules and the consequent sanction of the new division had been given by the Cheshire FA.
Division Three will consist initially of 10 clubs with Aintree Villa, Helsby BI, Pavilions (formerly Runcorn Town) and Shaftesbury joining the League.
In addition, the Reserve sides of current members New Brighton, Mond Rangers and Upton AA all made successful applications.
Division One retains a membership of 15 teams, with General Chemicals gaining promotion to the higher sphere at the expense of bottom club Moreton, who join a Second Division reduced to 14 teams.
Division One clubs begin their league programme on Saturday, August 15, with the other two divisions starting on Saturday, August 29.
Also present at the meeting were Ashville Youth, the Cheshire Amateur Cup winners at senior and youth level. Ashville were presented with the George Law Cup and a cheque for £100 as the club who had done most to enhance the reputation of the league.
