YOUNG Wirral cricket hopefuls showed off their talents between the wickets in a bid for a place in the Cheshire Schools' Cricket Under-12s team.
They were put through their paces at trials by coaches and judges from the Cheshire Youth Cricket Partnership - an initiative designed to harness and develop cricket skills at school level through an ambitious programme of coaching sessions and tournaments to hopefully produce cricket stars of the future.
Places for the Under-12 Cheshire County Representative team will be announced shortly. The selected players will receive expert coaching and go on to play against county sides from around the UK.
The Cheshire Youth Cricket Partnership is sponsored by The Greenalls Group plc, North and Mid-Cheshire Training and Enterprise Council, and Sportsmatch - the Government organisation that matches private sports funding.
