BIRKENHEAD'S new Conway Park Station quietly opened to passengers on Monday morning without a 'rush hour' of people getting off. The multi-million pound state-of-the-art railway station had about 50 passengers using it up to 9am.
However, it is expected to get extremely busy, with a possible 7000 passengers per day, and as more commuters become aware that the station is now operational, and is handy for Birkenhead town centre shops and offices.
Birkenhead also has new Smart buses linking Birkenhead with Mill Park, Woodchurch and Seacombe.
Martin Taylor, General Manager Wirral Peninsula Buses and Steve Ellis, MD Crosville, say these state-of-the-art buses are comfortable and convenient transport as well as being environmentally friendly.
Birkenhead MP Frank Field will be in town on Friday to officially open another improved area of Birkenhead, the new Lairdside Technology Park, costing £3.5m with the potential to create 200 jobs.
The opening ceremony takes place on the former site of the burned down British Leather Works on the New Chester Road,
In the same neighbourhood a new business park is planned for reflecting the regeneration of Birkenhead town centre.
