The fund is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Since 1948 it has raised over £12 million for cancer research in the North West. Over 90p in every £1 raised is spent directly on cancer research. All of the money raised is spent in this area, where there are more incidences of cancer than any other part of the country.
Fund chairman, Michael Potts, said: "We are delighted his Grace accepted our invitation to speak at our meeting in this our 50th anniversary year. Many of our volunteers were present who, like the Archbishop, have been touched by cancer themselves."
