THREE picturesque gardens will be open in the village of Burton on Sunday, 2pm to 6pm, under The National Garden Scheme.
As each of the gardens varies in size and character, visitors can be sure of finding something new and interesting, gain ideas for their own garden and have the opportunity of talking to other gardeners.
Last year's opening attracted 900 visitors and raised £3, 680, all of which was sent to charitable causes including Cancer Relief, the Macmillan Fund and other nursing associations. The National Trust Garden Fund also benefited and St John's Hospice received £922.
'Bank Cottage', 'Briarfield' and 'Lynwood' are all within easy walking distance and free parking is available near 'Lynwood' and at Burton Manor College.
Afternoon teas will be served at the Gladstone Village Hall by the Support Group of Claire House Children's Hospice at Clatterbridge.
"With only one entry fee of £3 (children free) for the three gardens, it would be hard to find a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon and, in the best of traditions, support the charities all at the same time," says Phil Wright, of Neston, who is helping to organise the open days.
