TWO Wirral women are nursing sore feet after raising £6,000 for Kidney Research by walking along the Great Wall of China.
In six days, Ann Lloyd, of Wallasey, and Linda Swan, of South Wirral, trekked 100 kilometres of the Great Wall.
"It was enjoyable, but hard going," said Ann, who is the administrative secretary for Mersey Kidney Research at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Linda is presently chair of Kidney Research Chester Committee and Ann is Vice Chair.
So far, they believe that they have raised around £6,000 to help support the team of doctors whose work is devoted to relieving the suffering of hundreds of kidney patients. Kidney Research was founded nearly 30 years ago and is presently supporting research into diseases of the kidney, bladder and urinary tract.
Even though they have already completed the walk, any donations are still welcome. They should be sent to Room 5367, Dept of Medicine, University Clinical Dept, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, L69 3GA. Cheques should be made payable to Mersey Kidney Research.
