BLUES singer Marjie Presst is hoping to reach the big time again by re-writing the history books at the tender age of 75.
Twelve years ago, Marjie, from Wallasey, captured the headlines by winning the Whitbread Senior Citizens' National Talent Contest.
Now, after winning through to this year's national final, the 'Magnificent Marjie' is on the verge of repeating that remarkable feat.
Her powerful voice and amazing performance impressed the judges when she won joint third prize in this year's North West Area Final of the popular annual competition.
The retired correspondence clerk won first place at the national final in 1986 and now, 12 years on, she wants to repeat her success.
That chance will arrive on Wednesday, July 29, when the national final is held in front of an audience of 1,800 at the Southport Theatre.
Awaiting the winner is a first prize of £1,000.
In her time, Marjie has performed on Central Television and alongside Ken Dodd in a charity event. She says that it is the "buzz from the audience" that she enjoys most.
When she is not belting out blues classics, Marjie likes to keep herself busy knitting and dressmaking. She also loves to spend time with her 15-month-old granddaughter, Jessica.
