LOYAL members of the Bromborough Royal British Legion Club turned out in force for a recent celebration evening held to mark the grand reopening of the concert room at the popular local club.
The celebrations centred on the official opening ceremony performed by John Smith's director of sales, Mike Charlton.
The club was forced to close the upstairs of the building after the roof was almost completely blown off during the storms on Christmas Eve - with the concert room being totally destroyed by the thousands of gallons of water which had poured in over a three-week period.
Club secretary Roy Newcombe said: "Because of the hard work of many of the members who helped to cover the upstairs room in polythene sheeting, we were very lucky that the downstairs lounges were hardly affected by the damage. Unfortunately the concert room was completely gutted as it rained constantly after the roof was blown off, but together with the brewery, who gave us a great deal of support, we have managed to reopen the club with the concert room in all its former glory."
Rebuilding work totalled over £150,000 and to help members celebrate the reopening, a new range of premium beers and lagers were installed by John Smith's, who have been supplying the club for over 15 years.
