DIAMOND celebrations will be in the air at the Hardy household in Greasby on Monday.
Edna and Henry Hardy, of Well Lane, who married in Liverpool on June 29, 1938, will be marking 60 years of wedded bliss.
Family and friends, including son Ron, daughter Norma, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be sharing the big day with them.
ELLESMERE Port Division of Cheshire Police has recorded a 17 per cent decrease in recorded crime from April 1997 to March 1998 compared to figures in the same period in 1996/97.
The figures also show house burglaries are down, but violent crime remains the same. There is a 16 per cent decrease in injuries in road traffic accidents.
WIRRAL Guides hold an international camp from July 25 to August 2 at Wirral Guide Camp Site, Hadlow Fields, Willaston. On the Wednesday, July 29, the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, with the Mayors of Wirral, Ellesmere Port and Neston, will visit.

WIRRAL park ranger Adam King was speaker at Barnston WI. He is team leader based at Leasowe Castle and responsible for four miles of the Wirral Coastal Walk between Meols and New Brighton. He told the history of the lighthouse from 1763 and its renovation. Next meeting is on Wednesday, July 1, when Gill Byrne speaks about Diamond Design. The flower and produce show is on Saturday afternoon, July 11.
MACDONALD Hotels has committed £4m of investment at Craxton Wood Hotel at Puddington. Craxton Wood is a traditional English home and planning has been agreed for 50 new bedrooms, a Pelican pub, plus fitness gym with swimming pool.
