THE SUCCESSOR to the legendary Peugeot 205, the Peugeot 206 is the car setting the new standards for three and five door hatchbacks, on sale in the UK in October.
The 206 combines technical innovation, ultra-modern visual appeal, and the traditional Peugeot qualities of superb handling, comfort and performance. Available in a full range of trim levels and with petrol and diesel engines, it is the result of a four-year development programme costing approximately £630 million.
The sixth model in the 200 series, the Peugeot 206 is designed to appeal to a wide audience and cater for many different lifestyles. It will be available in three and five door and inherits the same dynamic capabilities as the rest of the Peugeot range, making it just as much at home in town as on the open road.
The standards set by the 206 are high. It has built into it the space, levels of active and passive safety, driveability, comfort and quietness normally associated with much larger cars. As a result, even the entry level feels substantial, enhanced by the build quality and grade of materials used.
It is the first vehicle in the range to be developed not just on a project basis, but also on a 'product life' basis, with driver and passenger satisfaction remaining a constant target.
Features include power steering, driver and passenger airbags, adjustable steering wheel, five-speed manual gearbox, transponder, air-recycling and pollen filter fitted as standard on all 206 models, and in-car entertainment with CD player. Prices will be very competitive.
