WIRRAL Classic Car Club had some competition on the night of its Car of the Year award - England playing in the World Cup and some appalling weather.
Even so, there was an excellent turn out at Hoylake Conservative Club, reports WCC chairman Blair Percival.
This year Chester Vintage Enthusiasts Club - which has many Wirral members - judged Wirral Classic cars, which included two Rolls Royces, a Mercedes, a 1960 Rover P4, a Morgan 4/4, a 1953 Ford Zephyr, a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, plus a selection of Triumphs and MGs.
WCCC then judged CVEC cars including vintage Model A Fords, Morris Oxford and a 1950's Hillman Minx.
A clear winner in each club emerged, the Ford Zephyr of Malcolm Pulford, of WCCC, and the 1928 Ford Model A of Audrey Gardener from Chester Vintage.
Wirral Classic Car meets on the first Monday of the month at Hoylake Conservative Club from 8 p.m., details from Blair Percival on 625 7632
