TRANMERE Rovers' growing standing in the world of football was underlined yesterday lunchtime with the announcement that the club's chairman, Mr Frank Corfe, has been elected a Director of the Football League.
The Football League has been totally restructured and a chief executive, Mr Peter Scudamore, has been appointed to look after day-to-day affairs.
But a Board of Directors, comprising three chairmen from Nationwide League Division One, two from Division Two and one from Division Three, will be responsible for steering the Football League forward.
Mr Corfe, obviously delighted with the appointment, told me: "I feel proud and honoured to have been elected by my fellow club chairmen. More importantly, for this football club, it is testimony to the standing of Tranmere Rovers in the football world."
