SIMON Weston welcomed passengers aboard the Mersey Ferries to announce his intention to take part in the New York Marathon with a team of 20 runners later in the year.

Weston Spirit is a youth charity which was co-founded by Simon Weston in 1988. It has bases in Merseyside, Tyneside, South Glamorgan and London. The Marathon is one of a series of events to celebrate the organisation's 10th anniversary.

THE Dale Farm Committee thanks those who supported the recent street collection. A total of more than £800 was donated by shoppers in Hoylake, Heswall and West Kirby.

This money will make it possible to continue to buy new equipment as well as improvements in access for people with mobility problems.
