PASSENGERS are now using Birkenhead's newest railway station, Conway Park, which is just yards away from the town's central shopping area.
The first passenger to enjoy the new facilities was 80-year-old Francis Patrick, who served six years and three months in the Second World War and was injured in action in Normandy.
He was made guest of honour after his family wrote a letter to Birkenhead town centre manager Larry Embra MBE. Francis (pictured) has been married to Christina for 58 years and has four children, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He has worked in Birkenhead all of his life, including a stint at Crutchley's.
