From P.H:-
DOES the Post Office have more power than we realise? I refer to the hysterical and laughable comments about our heritage, employment, job creation all linked to Merseyside and the post code change. 'Merseyside', a name that is only 25 years old and a 'L' post code created to have better so called efficiency to our deliveries hardly constitutes the hype.
'Wirral' as a name has been appearing on maps for nearly 2,000 years and only adopted Wirral Council in 1974. Before that, the name was attaced to the Urban district of Wirral West (Heswall/Thurstaston etc).
Born in Birkenhead, Cheshire I regard Liverpool only as a neighbouring city (visited approx 30 times a year). I welcome the post code change and sincerely hope that the power of the post offce will lead rapidly to the whole peninsula re-united with Cheshire.
