From Ernie Hewitt:-
I WRITE in the hope that Globe readers can help me to locate any members of my family who may still be living in the Wirral area.
My grandfather, Joseph Hewitt, was born on 3-6-1879 and lived at 4 Tranmere Vale, Birkenhead. He married Elizabeth McArthur on 1-11-1903 at St Nicholas' Church, Liverpool. He died on 21-3-1928 at 56 Church Street, Tranmere.
My father, Frederick John Hewitt, was born 2-2-1911 at 33 Pleasant Street, Birkenhead, and married Ethel Mary Cooke on 21-12-1935 at St John's Church, Birkenhead.
My father had three sisters - Margaret (nothing further is known), Bella and Diggy, who married George Jones and they had two daughters, Patricia and Edna, who emigrated to Sydney, Australia, in the early '60s.
Edna was a nurse when she left England. Diggy divorced George and married Joe Jones and they lived in Wallasey.
Bella - short for Isabella? - married Dick Jones and they had at least one child, Alfie. They used to live just off Grange Road, Birkenhead, in the early '60s.
This is all the information I have with regard to my family and I would be extremely grateful if you would publish this letter. I look forward, hopefully, to the replies.
