CARLSBERG West Cheshire Division One leaders Cammell Laird maintained their outstanding unbeaten league run with a 2-1 win at challengers and reigning champions Poulton Victoria.
In a game littered with nine yellow cards and one red, 10-men Laird had Lee Atherton and former Vics centre back Mark Jones on target. Scott Taylor replied for Vics.
Heswall stayed in the title race with a 3-1 success at Shell - Julian Pepper, 2, and Graham Steel on target. Heswall 'keeper John Gann saved Wayne Nichol's penalty.
Stork lost at home to Ashville for the second time this season, courtesy of Neil Young's solitary goal.
There was a shock in the Wirral Amateur Cup semi-finals when Tony Williams, 2, Tommy Gaunt and Dave Mustoe earned Stork Reserves a 4-1 win at Cammell Laird Reserves. They now meet Heswall Reserves (Paul Williams penalty, Gareth Whittle), 2-1 victors over Moreton, in the final.
