COLD and windy conditions greeted runners who took part in a Merseyside Schools' Cross Country League meeting at Fazakerly High School, but Wirral athletes still achieved good results.
Rebecca Lindesay, of West Kirby GS, won the Under-19 race, with Plessington HS's Jennie Allison fourth - Jennie also took the award overall for the highest placed individual from a school without a team.
Lindesay Doyle, also West Kirby GS, won the Under-16 race, taking overall first place in this age group. Vicki Rooney (Weatherhead HS) was ninth with Ridgeway HS's Rachel Broadhurst 10th.
In the Under-14 race, Lisa Taylor (Hilbre HS) came sixth, Louise Bates (Wallasey) 11th, Ella Brown (Weatherhead HS) 12th, Nicki Smith (Plessington HS) 14th and Siobhan Houston (Woodchurch HS) 18th.
Biggest race of the day was for Year 7 pupils - this event attracted more than 150 competitors. Katie Sullivan (Upton) finished 17th, followed by Nicki Allison (Plessington HS) 19th and Charlie Wellings (Woodchurch HS) 79th.
