TWO Wirral schools - Caldy Grange GS and St Anselm's - shared the team honours when the third round of the Merseyside Schools' Boys' Cross Country League was staged at Calderstones Park, Liverpool.
Calday won the Under-12 race, led home by individual winner James Absalom.
This was Calday's third successive team victory in this age group.
Following James, was James Hughes (Calday) 3rd, Michael Watson (St Anselm's) 4th, and Carl Diable (Calday) 6th.
Calday also took the team event in the Under-13 age group for the third successive race. Individually, Chris Heseltine (Calday) came third, Jonathan Elbay (Birkenhead) 4th, David Ebbrell (Wirral GS) 6th and Daniel McNicholas (Plessington HS) 8th.
St Anselm's finished second to Calday with Birkenhead School third.
Orders were reversed in the Under-14 race, St Anselm's finishing ahead of Calday. Rory Smith won this age group for the third race running. Graham Bentzen (St Anselm's) was the only other placed Wirral athlete in fourth place.
St Anselm's also won the Under-16 race. Wirral GS were second and St Anselm's 'B' third. Individually, Ross Taylor led St Anselm's 'A' home in fourth, with Tom Baker (St Anselm's) 7th and Matthew Rose (Wirral) 9th.
The Senior Boys' Under-19 event was won by Ben Cooke (Birkenhead School). He finished ahead of Leon Russell (Mosslands) and Andrew Baddeley (Calday), who was third. Steven Edwards (St Anselm's) came 4th, William Goudie (Calday) 5th and Andy Brabin (Calday) 6th Calday 'A' won the team race with St Anselm's 'A' second and St Anselm's 'B' third.
