WALLASEY man David Lindsay, 47, has been given a fellowship award by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to help him go for gold at the World Transplant Games in the Netherlands.
He is one of 108 fellows who were selected from over 1,600 applicants. Each of the candidates represents a rich diversity of backgrounds, qualifications, trades and professions.
Mr Lindsay, a BT 1st line manager who has had a kidney transplant, will compete in the 50m and 100m swimming events.
The fellowship was set up as a living memorial to Sir Winston Churchill, so the trust now gives awards for people to go on projects abroad to gain knowledge and experience of significant value to their country, community, occupation and their own personal development.
