SUPPORTERS of Carlett Park College celebrate its stay of execution with a 'Mid Life Crisis' on Friday, March 5.

Supporters of the Eastham College, threatened by closure by the previous management board, are having the fund-raising gig at Bromborough Civic Centre, entrance £2.

Bands playing are Mid Life Crisis, Snag, Revolver and Waterfrunt.

Local MP Ben Chapman, who campaigned to save the college from being sold, is invited on his return from the Falklands.

"The new board of governors is also invited, along with students and staff from Wirral Met College.

"We are pleased with the Globe's unrivalled coverage and support for Carlett Park," said one of the organisers of the gig.

THE grandstand at the Oval, Port Sunlight, where the movie Chariots of Fire was filmed, has been closed to spectators for fire safety reasons. Wirral leisure councillors meet on Tuesday to consider a facelift for the timber-framed structure so it can re-open in the year 2000.

CHAIRMAN of the Bebington Branch of the United Nations Association, Mr Tom Edwards, has died. Mr Edwards, of Bebington, was a retired training officer at Lever Bros.

A widower, with a daughter and two sons, Mr Edwards was also a Chairman of Clatterbridge League of Friends, was involved in local football and a respected member of the community. A service was held at Landican Cemetery yesterday.
